Jim advises us on business development. He is the co-founder of Brycon Corporation, a heavy industrial construction company, and CM-Services, a consulting firm that provides project and risk management services to the construction industry. Jim has been a leader in the construction industry for over twenty-five years. He was Executive Vice President of Operations with the Construction Business Unit of Zurich North America Insurance. During his tenure at Zurich, he also held the positions of Vice President of Customer Services and Director of Construction Risk Engineering, as well as being one of the original business unit team start-up members. Jim started his career with an Engineering News Record Top 100 Contractor. Before holding regional and corporate management positions, he had extensive experience managing projects in the heavy industrial, power and heavy civil/marine industries. Jim earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Maine.

Laura Laurenzi, M.S.

Laura advises us on contractor insurance. She has 23 years experience in the insurance industry. As Director of Property and Casualty, Laura is responsible for the marketing, negotiation, and service of the property and casualty lines of business. In her role, she has the oversight for some of the most complex contractor controlled insurance programs with over $4B of construction volume annually. She also oversees the master builder’s risk programs and subguard line. Prior to her position at TSIB, Laura served as the Vice President of Strategic Lines for Zurich Construction Group’s New York region where she specialized in large complex construction programs and subguard and the Underwriting Vice President, Construction Division for ACE USA. Additionally, Laura has worked for Hartford Group as a personal, commercial casualty, excess, surplus, environmental/pollution, and professional lines underwriter. Laura graduated with a Master of Science degree in Insurance and Finance and a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from University of Hartford.

Ed advises us on business development. He is a strong advocate of best practices in the construction process and works with a focus on risk planning. He provides high-level management consulting services to contractors, engineers and industrial companies. Ed’s skills are sought after to assist clients in the assessment of their operations and safety cultures and to troubleshoot projects under duress. Ed successfully managed regional construction operations within an Engineering News Record Top 100 Contractor and global organizations, garnering expertise in marine engineering, ship building, power generation, cement, pulp & paper, transportation and heavy industrial construction. A graduate of AGC’s Advanced Management Program, he has extensive senior-level operational experience. Ed also brings in-depth and hands-on knowledge of petroleum and boiler operations, having worked half of his career with the U.S. Merchant Marines and Bath Iron Works. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Marine Engineering from Maine Maritime Academy and is a licensed Chief Engineer in the U.S. Merchant Marines.

Monti, Ph. D.
Senior Computational Biologist

Dr. Monti advises us on statistical analysis. He is a senior computational biologist in the Cancer Program at the Broad Institute of MIT & Harvard. He received his Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence from the University of Pittsburgh and completed his graduate training with a post-doctoral fellowship at the Robotics Institute of Carnegie Mellon University. His area of expertise includes reasoning under uncertainty, machine learning and data mining, with an earlier focus on medical informatics and a later specialization in computational biomedicine. Dr. Monti is an internationally recognized expert in the field of functional and cancer genomics, and has a decade-long experience in the collection, analysis, interpretation and visualization of high-dimensional data.
